Trusted Eye Doctor in Sardis & Senatobia
Dr. Samuel Scott is a new and familiar face at Sawyer Scott Eyecare Center, embodying the legacy of compassionate and comprehensive eye care established by his mother, Dr. Sallye Sawyer Scott.
Raised in Senatobia, Dr. Sam spent his childhood afternoons in the office, absorbing the values and practices that would shape his career.
Dr. Sam’s educational journey began at Magnolia Heights and continued at Mississippi State University. He wasted no time pursuing his passion for optometry, enrolling at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) — one of the top optometry schools in the country — immediately after graduating from MSU. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from SCO in 2019, officially becoming a licensed optometrist.
Specializing in the full scope of optometry, Dr. Sam has a keen interest in managing ocular diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, dry eye, age-related macular degeneration, and viral and bacterial infections. He believes in the importance of continuous learning to stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in eye care. Recently, he has focused on understanding chronic dry eye and myopia control and educating patients on the newest contact lens and spectacle lens options.
Dr. Sam further honed his dedication to eye care during his externship at Loden Vision Center in Nashville, where he specialized in glaucoma, anterior segment disease, and postoperative management of cataracts, glaucoma, and refractive surgeries. His commitment to patient education and personalized care complements his clinical expertise.
In 2018, Dr. Sam married Emily Scott, and they now reside in Hernando with their two sons. He remains actively involved in the community, attending Senatobia Church of Christ and participating in the Mississippi Optometric Association (MOA), the Mississippi Legislative Committee, and the MOA’s Leadership Program Class. Dr. Sam enjoys reading, exploring new restaurants, and traveling outside of work.
